All four SKUs run the exact same Helioclock software – the difference
is entirely in the hardware.
SKU-1 (SD Card, $39-49) is for anyone who already owns a Raspberry Pi 4
or 5. It’s a preloaded SD card – flash it in, boot it up. Its primary
use case is actually headless: most people run it as a server and pull
up the display in a browser on a shack PC or tablet, rather than
plugging a monitor directly into the Pi. Local kiosk display works
fine too, it’s just not the main event.
SKU-2 (Live USB Stick, $39-49) is for anyone who has a spare Intel/AMD
PC lying around instead of a Pi. It’s a bootable USB drive with a full
Ubuntu install on it – no Pi required, no separate appliance, just plug
it into hardware you already own and boot from it.
SKU-3 (Turnkey Appliance, $200-250) is the “just make it work” option –
a dedicated N100-class mini PC with its own 1080p display, running
Helioclock out of the box. No SD card, no USB stick, no setup.
SKU-4 (Multi-Display Server, $449+) is built for driving more than one
screen at once – a NOC wall, a row of lobby displays, that kind of
thing – from a single N100-class unit.
Quick rule of thumb: already have a Pi? SKU-1. Have a spare PC instead?
SKU-2. Want it to just work with zero setup? SKU-3. Outfitting more
than one screen? SKU-4.
