Here’s an honest look at what’s ahead for Helioclock, organized by how
solid the plan actually is. Nothing here has a committed date – some
of it is scoped and just waiting for time, some of it is a real idea
that hasn’t been fully thought through yet. I’d rather tell you that
difference than pretend everything’s equally close.

    **Up next**
    – An optional SDR add-on tier (RTL-SDR Blog V4) for direct reception
confirmation and an interactive HF receiver mode, on top of the
propagation data already in the app.

    – Zoomed views for the Mercator and CONUS map modes – being able to
zoom into a region on the map you’re already looking at, rather than
only switching between full-world and full-CONUS views.

    – A dedicated Regional View, complementing the above.

    – Correct DST handling for the EU and Southern Hemisphere – the
current timezone logic was built US-first and needs to catch up for
    operators elsewhere.

Remote View panel settings pre-population, so setting things up from your
phone or browser is less repetitive.
    DONE!

    – Control for radio rigs and antenna rotators

    **On the radar**

    – A temperature/isotherm overlay layer on the map.
    – Direct audio integration – SomaFM streams, NOAA Weather Radio, and
Broadcastify feeds available right from the display.
    – A fishing forecast panel (solunar tables, pressure trends, water
temp, wind/wave conditions) for anyone who’d use it.
    – A global font size control in Settings, for different display sizes
    and viewing distances.
    – Flag icons in the DX Cluster panel instead of the current text-based
    country badge.
    – An audio decode crawl for CW and RTTY, for the Amateur Edition
    feature set.
    – Prerequisites for SKU-4’s multi-display server – per-display
configuration and easy pairing when setting up more than one screen
    from a single unit.

**Longer-term ideas (real, but not scoped yet)**

    – An opt-in “Operator Honor Roll” – a public map of who’s running
Helioclock, if you choose to share your callsign and grid square.
    – Tracking for Tiangong (the Chinese space station) alongside the
    existing ISS pass predictions.
    – A weather map layer built on real GRIB2 data (isobars, wind barbs)
for a more complete meteorological picture.
    – A terrain/relief basemap style as an alternative to the current
    satellite and political map styles.
    – Continued refinement of Best Band Now’s confirmation logic as more
    real-world usage data comes in.

Have an idea that’s not here? That’s what Feature Requests is for –
post it there and I’ll see it.
