Helioclock v3.7.37 will be showing up in your system in the next 24 hours

**This release is focused primarily on bug fixes and under-the-hood stability improvements, with one small new feature. THANK YOU to everyone who reported issues that led to these fixes.**

    – Fixed an issue that could cause an authentication prompt or a slow startup after a reboot, tracked down to how the system’s automatic login interacts with the browser’s built-in credential manager
    – Fixed a bug where the admin page could occasionally fail to display properly, leaving some settings sections blank
    – Arizona now has its own correct timezone setting, since it doesn’t observe Daylight Saving Time like the rest of the Mountain Time zone
    – Corrected nine city timezone defaults, including Las Vegas, Nashville, Memphis, Louisville, Sydney, and several New Zealand and Pacific cities
    – Fixed a rare crash in the first-run setup wizard’s timezone picker
    – Favorite Arrangements now correctly remember and restore which map layers you had turned on, including during Carousel Mode
    – Removed a setting that could, in rare cases, accidentally lock a unit out of its own login
    – Expanded the Help documentation, including a reminder to always shut down properly (Power button in the menu) before unplugging your monitor or HDMI cable

**NEW** Helioclock can now display occasional important notices right on your unit, like a heads-up about an upcoming update. These show up as a small banner near the top of your screen. Click it to read the full message, then dismiss it when you’re done. If you ever want to read it again, you’ll find a View Announcement button in the admin panel under Settings.

**SOMETHING WE SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU ABOUT SOONER**

A release back, Helioclock quietly gained live space weather forecast data from Rice University’s Magnetospheres, Ionospheres and Radiation Belts Group, used with permission from Dr. Patricia Reiff. The Boyle Index (polar cap potential, PCP) is a real-time measure of how solar wind conditions are coupling into the magnetosphere, and Helioclock’s Best Band Now feature already factors it in alongside Kp to refine its propagation estimates. If you haven’t noticed it, look for the Boyle Index panel. We should have announced this when it shipped. Thank you to Rice University and Dr. Reiff for making this data available.

As always, thank you for being part of the Helioclock community. If you run into anything unexpected, reach out to support@helioclock.com.

    73,
    Anthony Watts
