Settings has a Display Test Patterns option most people probably never
open – SMPTE color bars, crosshatch, a grayscale ramp, HD SMPTE RP 219
color bars, solid colors, and a geometry pattern, all viewable
fullscreen. If you’re setting up a new display, calibrating color, or
just want to check for dead pixels or geometry issues on a panel,
this is a genuinely useful thing to have built in rather than needing
    a separate test-pattern generator.

You can use it for Slow-Scan TV (SSTV) or for adjusting your monitor/TV.
