A panel says “SET API KEY” or shows no data

A few panels rely on free third-party API keys you configure yourself
– Helioclock doesn’t ship with anyone else’s keys bundled in.

Wildfire layer showing no data: your FIRMS API key isn’t set or has
expired. Go to Settings, FIRMS Key, and enter a valid key from
firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/api/map_key/.

Air Quality panel shows SET API KEY: you need an AirNow key (for
US/CA/MX) or a WAQI token (global). Go to Settings, Profile, and enter
whichever applies to you. Both are free.

Markets panel shows SET API KEY: no Financial Modeling Prep key is
configured. Go to Settings, Data Sources, and get a free key from
site.financialmodelingprep.com/register. The crypto watchlist actually
works fine without a key – only stock quotes and the DOW/NASDAQ
indices need one.

Tides panel shows SET STATION IN PROFILE: you haven’t set a NOAA
station ID yet. Go to Settings, Profile, Tide Station, and enter a
7-digit NOAA station ID – find one at
tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/tide_predictions.html.

Tides panel shows INVALID STATION ID: the ID you entered either
doesn’t exist or isn’t a tide prediction station. Double check it
against the NOAA station finder – valid IDs are 7 digits (for example,
9414290).

Tide chart missing or shows no curve: the station may be a subordinate
station without continuous prediction data – Helioclock should still
build a chart using interpolation in that case, but if it’s genuinely
missing, try switching to a primary reference station instead. The
station’s own detail page on tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov will tell you
whether it’s Primary or Subordinate.
